Who is Juhis?

We are all so much more than just an employee or an entrepreneur. I want to know more about you than just your tech stack or business metrics. So I figured I'll start that discussion by telling you about me.

A Finn.

I was born to a fantastic family of five in February 1988 in a small town called Paimio in the South-West Finland. I spent my childhood building Legos, playing football and floorball, and reading - a lot. That's me around the age of 2 in the photo.

In my teenage years I started traveling with my dad around the Europe to see Finnish national football team attempting to make it to UEFA Euro and FIFA World Cup. It's still a dream but hey, maybe one day we'll make it!

At some point I realized I need more realistic dreams than Finland making it to FIFA World Cup so I started dreaming about Silicon Valley and becoming really good at what I do. The first part of that happened in 2014 and the second one is still in progress. Like Ralph Waldo Emerson puts it: "Life is a journey, not a destination."

I'm constantly challenging myself to learn new things. Whether it's photography, graphic design, writing or something totally else, I enjoy the feeling of learning and experimenting with new things.

I've studied computer science and statistics in the university but I've learned most by doing things: projects, experiments, and starting new things and seeing how it goes. It took me a while to get into that mindset but once I did, there's no stopping me.

Board Game Geek

Even in my childhood I loved playing board games but it really got the best of me in university when I was introduced to more serious games.

It started all innocent with games like Carcassonne and Ticket to Ride but quickly evolved into a full-on hobby with heavier games like Power Grid and Crisis.

My favorite genres are worker placement resource management (like Stone Age, Crisis) and social bluffing traitor (like Werewolf and Battlestar Galactica).

If you like games, we are gonna be good friends!

Hockey, football.. well, all sports

I'm a huge sports fan. I love ice hockey and football (both the real football and the American version) but I'm usually having a good time with watching any sport.

I'm not much of an athlete myself but if you ask me to join your pub league team in football or basketball, you can count me in.

Pittsburgh Penguins, Golden State Warriors, San Francisco 49ers, Tottenham Hotspur, TUTO, Andy Murray and Jari Litmanen are some of my favorites.

Beer, mmm, beer

Let's be real. I love beer. My favorites are IPAs, Ambers, Trappists and Red Ales but usually as long as it's not too dark, I'm game.

For long I had the understanding that American beer would be crap but living there for a year I fell in love with their microbreweries and the variety of different beers blew me away.
